Other Fan Works
I'd like to take some time to also link back to and share some other fanworks I really enjoy.
Please remember that I in no way endorse anything else any of these individuals do with thier own time, nor do I keep tabs on such things. The recommendation is just here purely on basis of the art.
Fanfiction
Of Sodor and Father Shores
An anthology series featuring 32 short stories featuring the various residents of Sodor. Entires span many continuities and some feature alternate universes of the author's own creation. Extremely character focused.
Personal Favorites: 'Duncan, Peter Sam, and Skarloey: Celebration' and 'Skarloey and Neil: Who I Am Now'
Oliver the Brave Little Engine
A story that goes into considerable depth about Oliver's emotional state and journey during his first few years on Sodor. Combines aspects from the books and the model series. Extremely character focused, particularly, as might be expected, on the Little Western gang.
Does include the author's personal headcanons on the prospect of Oliver's former name/number and a lot about his days on the Great Western Railway. Does not preserve Oliver and Toad's status as a canonical pair.
Moving Forward
A half 'what if' half 'fix-it' fic in which Cas-ny-Hawin does not flood completely, allowing Stanley to just barely survive long enough to be rediscovered and saved, though severely ill. This fic also plays around with the implications from the extended lorebooks that the Thin Clergyman as a character did not always pen his books faithfully, especially in regards to Stanley himself.
Fairly short. A large part concerns Stanley aquiring active psychosis from his past trauma, but it's not discussed very in-depth. Contains some personal headcanons also regarding Neil and the Crovan's Gate Preservation Society.
The Forgotten Mine Engine
A fan book that is half general-fanwork, half fan-AU-adaptation, concerning the old Mid Sodor's No.8 engine, Duchess. Contains four stories in the style of the Railway Series and borrows from fan artist Rexeljet's personal Railway Series-adjacent AU.
A hurt-no-comfort fic that ends on a slightly hopeful note.

Original Story Fan Videos
Stepney and the City Engines
A fan audio book created to celebrate Stepney's 150th birthday last year. Contains four stories in the style of the Railway Series, complete with some original art. A very light-hearted, fun work that lovingly celebrates the old terrier and his friends.
Creator also has a companion behind-the-scenes video, that goes into the book's production.
Fight For Survival
An older fanwork that gives Emily a proper backstory and explaination as to her whereabouts before ending up on Sodor. A somber video, but one with a great love and appreciation for the character that rights her poor treatment by the HiT and Mattel writers.
Plays with the concept that Emily is not the same Sterling Single as No.1, the preserved specimen in the 'real' world.
Clever Little Engine
An hour-long collection of four stories, devoted to Ivo Hugh, and his journey to find his footing as the newest member of the Skarloey Railway family. A very sweet, even 'cozy' production that really captures the unique bond the SR engines have, and certainly breathes life into both of the fleet's lesser known engines- as Fred also gets a nice chunk of time to shine alongside the main star.

Reimaginings as Fan Videos
Worth It
A retelling of 'The Flying Kipper' that is focused on the event from Henry's point of view and takes into greater account his state as a chronically ill engine. A good watch if you're feeling pretty beat up by life at the moment.
Sir Handel in live action!
A retelling of 'Sir Handel' by the very home of the genuine article, and featuring the genuine article. The Talyllyn Railway produced this short originally for their 2025 AwdryExtravaganza event, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the book series, and the amount of love shows through every moment of it.
The Stories of Sodor's Finest
An anthology series featuring retellings of various characters' most memorable moments from the Railway Series, retold through modelwork.
A fun celebration of the beloved engines, dedicated to simply reminding the viewer why they're so cherished by generations of people. Series is still in progress.

Fan Artists
The Work Of Rexeljet
An artist with two main ongoing series- one where he redraws characters from the model and cgi series as Railway Series characters and discusses how he would personally reimagine them to fit into that continuity, and one where he draws obscure characters from the books, and discusses their place within the lore. Technically all of his work is a Railway Series -centric AU, but it all very enjoyable and doesn't feel like it diverges too much from established canon.
